Statement of Faith
Our Values & Beliefs
At Rotorua Baptist Church, what we believe shapes how we live.
We believe in a powerful God of love, mercy and compassion. Our faith is not just something we talk about on Sundays—it’s something we practise every day as we follow Jesus together.
Jesus at the Centre
We believe Jesus Christ is Lord and Saviour. He is the centre of our faith, our hope, and our life together as a church. Through Jesus we find forgiveness, freedom, and a restored relationship with God. Everything we do flows from who He is and what He has done.
Guided by the Bible
We believe the Bible is God’s Word, trustworthy and life-giving. Through Scripture, God speaks to us, shapes us, and guides us as we learn how to live faithfully in today’s world.
Life in the Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit is active today, bringing transformation, comfort, conviction, and power. The Spirit helps us grow in faith, equips us to serve, and enables us to live lives that reflect God’s love. We depend on prayer and the Spirit’s leading in all we do.
Hope Through the Resurrection
We believe Jesus rose from the dead, offering forgiveness, new life, and the promise of eternal life. This hope is not just for the future—it gives meaning, courage, and purpose for everyday life.
Becoming Like Jesus
We value discipleship—learning to follow Jesus with our whole lives. Faith grows as we walk together, ask honest questions, and support one another in becoming more like Jesus.
Belonging in Community
We believe the church is a family, not a building. Everyone is welcome to explore faith, and everyone matters. We believe encouragement, care, and shared life are essential for spiritual growth.
Baptism and New Life
We practise believer’s baptism by immersion as a public and joyful expression of personal faith in Jesus. Baptism symbolises new life in Christ and a commitment to follow Him.
Every Person Matters
We believe every person is made in the image of God and deserves dignity, love, and respect, regardless of background or belief. We affirm the important role of both women and men in the life and leadership of the church, serving God and others with the gifts He has given.
Living the Good News
We believe we are called to share the good news of Jesus—through our words, our actions, and lives shaped by love, justice, and compassion. We seek to serve our community and trust God to work through us in powerful and life-giving ways.
Marriage and Family
We believe marriage is a sacred covenant, designed by God as a lifelong union between one man and one woman. We value strong families and healthy relationships as vital to flourishing communities.
Sent Into the World
We believe God calls us to be the hands and feet of Jesus—locally and beyond. Empowered by the Holy Spirit, we seek to honour God, love others well, and live with authenticity and joy.
